Paramore- Monster

Paramore’s "Monster," a bitter goodbye to the Farro brothers?

Paramore began a new chapter with the release of their new song “Monster” on Friday.

The song has very telling and personal lyrics such as “But I let my heart go. It’s somewhere down at the bottom. But I’ll get a new one and come back for the hope that you’ve stolen.”

Another with Williams singing: “I’m not the villain despite what you’re always preaching. Call me a traitor, I’m just collecting your victims. They’re getting stronger.”

These such lyrics make it appear as addressing, not-so-subtly, the bitter breakup, and taking a stab at former band members, brothers Josh and Zac Farro. It is more than just another song penned for a soundtrack.

MTV News pinpoints the subject of the song on one person: Josh Farro, the band’s ex lead guitarist and Hayley Williams’ ex-boyfriend. Farro infamously shared the band’s dirty laundry after he felt the band’s announcement of he and his brother’s departure wasn’t truthful enough, according to Entertainment Weekly. Farro decided to release his own statement on behalf of him and his brother.

In his opinion, Paramore was a “ manufactured product of a major label,” and the focus was less on the band and more on Hayley Williams’ dream.

Regardless of the falling out that followed, the now trio put in studio time and is proving they are indeed still a band.

Within the chorus which reads: “ I’ll stop the whole world from turning into a monster and eating us alive. Don’t you ever wonder how we’d survive? But now that you’re gone the world is ours.” Williams, Davis and York are better off without the brothers.
